Dawn Wallath Counsellor, Auckland

I have been professionally involved with children and their families in various ways for thirty years. Since 2007 when I graduated as a counselor I have been working to refine my skills for working with children and their families. Currently I am working as a contract counselor to schools and as a private practitioner. My most recent agency work has been as a counselor for Hospice West Auckland working with families facing a life limiting illness. I have worked for social agencies and in community programs as well.

As a counsellor I have sought to add ways of clinical practice continually to my work that enhance the outcomes for my clients and so currently I am studying a Post Graduate Diploma in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy.

I have also been a group facilitator for parenting programmes*.

* “Parenting Through Separation.” A Ministry of Justice funded course for those couples who want to minimise the impact of separation for their children.
* “Fresh Start” Parenting Teens.

My approaches are specific to each client group I work with as needs vary greatly between families, children and individuals.

Part of my commitment to being a safe practitioner is to refer you to other support networks should your needs fall outside of my areas of expertise.

Please note: Due to my study commitments this year I am currently not taking on new clients, however please contact me for future availability or appropriate referrals. You can contact me by phone or by sending a contact email.
